Inspired by Helen Cammock’s commission for Wysing’s 30th Anniversary, They Call It Idlewild, which explores the politics of idleness, and Wysing’s identity as a space to rest, we have set up an audio livestream broadcasting from the edges of Wysing’s site. This is a virtual way of experiencing Wysing as a space to be idle and take things at your own pace. The livestream is running 24 hours a day, capturing the sounds of Wysing’s spaces, site, and natural environment. As lockdown continues, conversations around idleness and productivity have become particularly widespread – we hope that this livestream brings a sense of calm and rest. The stream is available on Locusonus Soundmap, an experimental broadcasting platform and network of livestreamed open microphones. You can access the livestream here, and the full soundmap is available here.
